We’re excited to announce the launch of PeriNEXT project ‘Development of Knowledge and Vocational Skills for Transition to Sustainable Peri-Urban Areas with Integrated Climate Solutions’, a bold new project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme KA210-VET. This 15-month project brings together partners from Município de Valongo from Portugal, SDSN – Sustainable Development Studies Network from Belgium and IGEA from Türkiye with one shared mission: to empower vocational education and training professionals to shape the future of peri-urban areas through innovative, climate-resilient solutions. ⚠️
As urban sprawl increasingly stretches into the rural fringe, peri-urban zones are facing mounting environmental, social, and infrastructure challenges. PeriNEXT responds to this urgent need by equipping urban planners, engineers, architects and social experts with the tools and skills to design climate-neutral, inclusive spaces that balance ecological integrity with sustainable development.📍
Through a dynamic mix of workshops, collaborative ideathons and the creation of a comprehensive Climate Neutral Awareness Kit, the project aims to transform how we understand and plan these hybrid spaces. ✅
This groundbreaking project will foster cross-border learning, interdisciplinary thinking and practical innovation by aligning closely with EU Green Deal priorities and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the project contributes not only to the green transition but also to the evolution of vocational education in Europe.
